Please find below details of some building projects we have recently undertaken
We work with structural engineers to obtain plans when installation of steel work is required. Not only is this often a legal requirement, but it provides appropriate assurances to our customers that work is done correctly.
Our client wanted to remove the two double garage doors, and insert a single garage door spanning the entire width.
An appropriate steel was designed by our structural engineer. We removed the wall after supporting the load from above using steel props.
Steels are inserted into the opening according to the specification on the structural plan (in this case using a spreader plate)
Brick work was repaired
The next step in the process was to get our partners to measure the new opening size so the new garage door could be manufactured. In the meantime, we temporarily resealed the opening using the existing doors. Finished photo coming soon.
Joints are raked clean to allow new mortar to penetrate
Injection of fresh mortar. using a mortar gun.
Brushing away excess mortar to leave solid
An old creaky, drafty and un-insultated timber subfloor was demolished and the area cleaned
New concrete block piers were installed and new timbers used to create a new subfloor
Celotex Insulation was installed and sealed using expanding foam to ensure a well insulated subfloor
18mm chipboard flooring installed on top of insulation, ready for installation of finished flooring
Our client didn't want to be disturbed by the building work or weather, so we erected a temporary partition a few feet away from the back wall.
The steel work was inserted after the wall was removed and the load from room above supported by props.
Steel resting on 200mm bearing on concrete padstone
Installation of bi-fold door system
Our client wanted to remove the fireplace for installation of a wood burning stove.
Lintel was installed to support the weight of the load above
The area was plastered, and we left the area clean ready for the client to decorate as agreed.
